Shutdown, Restart or Logoff any network user
Being able to remotely shutdown computers is a very simple but very useful tool. With the additional options Impero provides, this feature becomes an invaluable tool.
Teachers who struggle to stop computer usage at the end of the lesson will be happy to know you can force students to log off so there is no more waiting for them to finish.
Automatic shutdown/logoff when idle for a period
This feature gives you the ability to automatically log off or shutdown computers when they are not in use. Useful for power management and can save your school money.
If the computer is left idle for the time you specify, it automatically shuts down or logs off.
Scheduled Power-up and Shutdown
The scheduling feature of Impero allows you to schedule lots of things to happen, one being the shutdown time of computers. You can also power them on again if they support Wake On Lan. This is a great way to save power by switching all machines off at the end of the day and power them back on again in the morning.
Change the network password of any student
No more log-on excuses. Impero has the ability to change network passwords. This can save valuable lesson time since you do not need to ask for a technician or send the student off to find one.
Power on all computers
If your computers support W-O-L (Wake On LAN) Impero can send a special message to all computers in your group. This message will tell them to power up.
It's nice to have the ICT Suite ready to use before the lesson begins.
Create Simple or Complex Grouping Structures
Without any configuration, Impero will display all users throughout your network. However, you can create groups based on computer or username configurations.
It is useful to be able to perform certain functions to a set of computers or users. For example, when blocking the Internet. By integrating groups you can do this for your ICT Suite, or just certain students. You can also specify which console users can monitor which groups and what features of the software they can use.
The grouping feature in Impero makes classroom and LAN Management very easy.
Disable duplicate logons
It's a common problem that some network users 'lend' their password to other users. Enabling this feature on Impero will stop this.
All users should use their own username and password to gain access to the computer network and Internet.
Remote Command Prompt
For the more technically minded, a remote command prompt can prove to be an invaluable tool. This offers a lot of functionality through one feature, from refreshing group policies to remote defrag.
Remote Task Manager
Another great techie feature: The Remote Task Manager allows you to see the CPU usage of every PC on your network at the same time, then see which process on remote computers are causing a high CPU load. You can even end the remote process on any PC.
Remote Find/Delete Files
This feature will save you lots of time and clear up some Hard Disk space on any remote computer. Simply choose which computers to find files on, specify a search criteria (for example, *.tmp) then click search. Impero will search the remote computers' Hard Disk for the file(s) you specify then you can choose to delete them!
